Finland's Turku team: Meeting together for the first time.

The “Turku team” met for the first time face-to-face in the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma in Helsinki. The Saturday afternoon in August became an exploration of identifying with one another and expanding our own boundaries by embracing the notion of “we”.

Connecting together ̶ despite differences of our perspectives on artefacts!

We looked at the contemporary art, at times strange compositions and shapes, and tried to understand deeper meanings of the artists and their ideas, hidden beneath the colors and crafts. At the same time, we felt the need to understand who “we”, as a group of people coming together from different parts of the world, were. Being together physically, discussing our plans and being moved by the art that we saw together, helped us to know each other better, and what we perhaps could do together with other participants in the project. But the visit to Kiasma also showed that art may help us to reach emotions and deeper understanding beyond words.

We are learning, we are bonding with each other and the world, and we are curiously looking forward to the road in front of us.

Fathya, Marja, Nasteha and Latif
